Welcome to the Department of Agricultural Extension (AEX) at our esteemed Faculty of Agriculture, where tradition meets innovation in a vibrant tapestry of multidisciplinary learning. It is my distinct pleasure to introduce you to a department that seamlessly integrates foundational and advanced education to shape the future of agricultural extension.
Here at Department of Agricultural Extension, we pride ourselves on being a cornerstone of excellence and innovation within the university. Our department stands out as a leader in agricultural extension, dedicated to providing an education that is both comprehensive and cutting-edge. Our mission extends beyond delivering top-tier education. We are committed to empowering farmers through education, translating scientific research into actionable insights for the agricultural sector. In addition to our core educational goals, we support faculty and staff in developing instructional materials and enhancing outreach efforts to disseminate research findings effectively.
The department is currently staffed by nine (9) full-time teaching and research faculty members, alongside four (4) support staff. Our team includes five (5) esteemed professors, one (1) assistant professor, and three (3) dedicated lecturers, all experts in their fields. Their research spans a diverse range of topics—from climate-smart agriculture and sustainable environmental practices to communication technologies and social issues. The remarkable achievements of our faculty members, evidenced by over 250+ published articles and multiple funded research projects, underscore our department’s significant impact and reputation.
We offer a robust undergraduate curriculum for the Bachelor of Science (BSc.) in Agriculture degree, and our courses extend to various other faculties including Veterinary and Animal Science, Fisheries, Agricultural & Industrial Engineering, and Food and Process Engineering. Beyond undergraduate studies, our Master of Science (MSc.) and PhD programs prepare students for leadership roles in global development and academia. To date, we have proudly conferred 165 MSc. degrees and 7 PhD degrees from this department.
Our innovative laboratory fosters an environment of creativity and research, while our approachable teachers cultivate a supportive and collaborative atmosphere for students. Outside the classroom, our ‘Extension Field Trip’ program provides valuable field experience and connections with extension and administrative bodies.
