PROJECTS

  1. Proximity networks to quantify and mitigate the risk of COVID-19 transmission in healthcare.

    Funded by: Australian Research Council Future Fellowships Grant

    Position: Lead Researcher

    Description: An IoT-based solution is proposed to efficiently localize, track, and monitor the activity of healthcare staff at Alfred Hospital, Melbourne, Australia. We developed a wearable platform by integrating suitable communication technologies and efficient intelligent algorithms to achieve the project goals. We also applied edge computing to attain low-latency feedback. Several pilot tests were conducted at the Alfred Hospital, Melbourne to validate the performance of the developed system. The project was collaborated by the Dept. of Electrical & Computer Systems Engineering, Monash University; Dept. of Infectious Diseases, Monash University, and The Alfred Hospital, Melbourne, Australia.

  2. An IoT-Connected Smart Hand Hygiene Tracking System for Prevention of Hospital Acquired Infections.

    Funded by: Australian Research Council Future Fellowships Grant

    Position: Researcher

    Description: We developed an IoT-based autonomous hand hygiene tracking platform for the prevention of hospital-acquired infections. By combining wearables, communication technologies, and intelligent algorithms, we developed a smart solution to address the issue of cross-infections among medical staff and patients at the Northern Hospital in Epping. The project was collaborated by the Dept. of Electrical & Computer Systems Engineering, Monash University; Faculty of Information Technology, Monash University; Faculty of Design and Art, Monash University; The Northern Hospital in Epping, Melbourne; Enware Australia, Caringbah NSW, and Oracle Australia.

  3. Solid waste monitoring and management system for smart city/smart village towards maintaining a sustainable innovative digital economy.

    Funded by: Long Term Research Grant Scheme (LRGS), Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE), Malaysia.

    Position: Lead Researcher.

    Description: As part of my M.Sc. research, I developed an IoT-based wireless sensor network platform for real-time monitoring and managing of solid waste bins to optimize the collection route. The developed solution helps to reduce solid waste collection costs, time as well as pollutant emissions. The project was collaborated by the Dept. of Electrical, Electronic & Systems Engineering, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia and the Dept. of Civil and Structural Engineering, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia.

  4. Measurement and Imaging of Soil Water Content and Hydraulic Conductivity in 3D and Real-Time for Saturated and Unsaturated Soil Based on Electrical Capacitance Tomography Development.

    Funded by: Science Fund (03-01-02-SF1022), Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI), Malaysia

    Position: Researcher.

    Description: As part of the project, I developed a wireless sensor network-based intelligent platform for soil water content monitoring by applying several IoT devices. The designed system can estimate soil moisture that facilitates to early detection of a landslide. The project was collaborated by the Dept. of Electrical, Electronic & Systems Engineering, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, and the Dept. of Civil and Structural Engineering, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia.

  5. Applied Engineering Intelligent Systems Development.

    Funded by: Dana Impak Perdana (Premier Impact Grant DIP-2012-03), Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia.

    Position: Researcher.

    Description: An intelligent solid waste segregation platform was developed for efficient solid waste management applications. Image processing and machine learning approaches were applied to implement the system. The project was collaborated by the Dept. of Electrical, Electronic & Systems Engineering, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, and the Faculty of Information Science & Technology, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia.

  6. Self-Assessment (SA) of the Bachelor Degree Programs for the Faculty of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE), Hajee Mohammad Danesh Science & Technology University, Bangladesh.

    Funded by: The World Bank.

    Position: Head of the Self-Assessment Committee (SAC).

    Description: Preparation of a self-assessment report and improvement plan through assessing the teaching-learning capacity of CSE faculty. By integrating all the major stakeholders, the self-assessment helps to identify the areas and issues that need to be addressed and improved to attain the learning objectives. The project was administered by the Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), Hajee Mohammad Danesh Science & Technology University, and Quality Assurance Unit (QAU), University Grants Commission of Bangladesh (UGC).

  7. Establishment of Fiber Optic Backbone (Buried) and High-Speed LAN at Hajee Mohammad Danesh Science and Technology University.

    Funded by: The World Bank and the Government of Bangladesh.

    Position: ASPM(Prepared the project and received the grant).

    Description: Design and installation of high-speed internet facility at Hajee Mohammad Danesh Science and Technology University for the very first time. This project facilitates to improve the institutional academic infrastructure by generating better access to knowledge and information through the integration of ICT into teaching-learning. The project was administered by the Higher Education Quality Enhancement Project (HEQEP), University Grants Commission of Bangladesh (UGC) and Ministry of Education, Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh. (I prepared the project proposal and received the grant before leaving Bangladesh to join Universiti Kebnagsaan Malaysia (The National University of Malaysia) as a Graduate Research Assistant).
