Welcome to the Department of Microbiology at the Hajee Mohammad Danesh Science and Technology University. Our Department has a long and distinguished history, with deep roots in microbiology, virology, immunology and molecular genetics. I am honored to serve as Chairman of a distinguished group of faculty members and to oversee exciting new changes in the Department.
A central mission of the department of Microbiology is teaching of microbiology and immunology to professional students in the Faculty of Veterinary and Animal Sciences and to graduate students pursuing their M.S and Ph.D. degrees. The department also provides advanced research and training.
The goals of the department of Microbiology are to sustain and further develop internationally recognized collaborative research programs that address infectious disease problems at the animal, human and environment interface and to deliver training programs in veterinary field at undergraduate, graduate and post-graduate levels that address societal demands and expectations.
Strong areas of research are conducting by departmental faculty members include: investigation of infectious diseases at the domestic animals, wildlife and the environment, emerging infectious diseases, antimicrobial resistance, companion animal zoonoses, molecular diagnostics, vaccine development and efficacy. The department maintains a successful graduate training program in these areas and views the diversity of our faculty as a strength and opportunity for synergy.
Therefore, our educational curriculum provides the opportunity to learn about fundamental mechanisms of microbiology and immunology, as well as the clinical aspects of these disciplines.
