Technology is taking over the world, and changing human lives at a pace that was not imagined even few decades back. People of distant places are so interconnected to each other that the world is being treated as a village. Computing devices and connectivity is changing peoples daily lives, redefining business processes and making the world more green by eliminating paper works. Western and Europeans are considered early adopters of this digital culture, but less developing countries like Bangladesh is not lagging far behind and catching up quite fast in this race.

Organizations who are willing to automate their business process have perhaps two choices. Either they seek solutions from commercial IT companies, or employ own in-house IT team to develop, deploy and maintain the solution 24/7 and 365 days. Though the second choice seems quite expensive at first place as it requires continuous investment, but the reality is - having own IT team becomes the strength of such organization. The main reason behind this is that a deployed IT solution requires continuous improvement, bug fixing, and new business requirements are likely to come in quite often. A commercial IT company providing all these services becomes unmanageable after certain period of time.

A fast growing university like Hajee Mohammad Dandesh Science & Technology University (HSTU), is very much keen to automate its day-to-day operations. Though a campus network with fiber optical back-bone is already available, but it requires up-gradation and more expansion. IT-Cell is the IT team of this university started its operation from 2nd May 2016. IT-Cell consists of professional network engineers, software engineers, and well trained technicians. As a result of Honorable Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's vision of Digital Bangladesh, all public universities of Bangladesh will be facilitated with the existence of IT-Cell. The relentless effort of Professor Md. Ruhul Amin to select the best breed of IT professionals for this IT-Cell team and his continuous observation and feedback for its progress is a must to mention here.

To keep the on-campus services up and running seamlessly, backup of necessary hardware and networking equipments is mandatory. In addition, IT-Cell may require additional resources over time. We always seek sincere and dedicated guidance of honorable Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. M. Abul Kashem for the smooth operation of IT-Cell. His active supervision and positive cooperation will motivate and speed up the IT-Cell.

I am honored to get the opportunity to supervise HSTU IT-Cell team. I observe strong potential of the team members and believe that they sincerely and professionally accomplish any duty assigned to them time-to-time and push this university to have cutting edge infrastructure and technological solutions and to stand abreast of the leading universities in home and abroad.
