CAREER OBJECTIVE
- To contribute to academic excellence and sustainable economic development through advanced research, teaching, and policy engagement in Agricultural Economics, Microeconomics, and Macroeconomics. As a dedicated professor, I aim to generate impactful research addressing agricultural productivity, rural livelihoods, and financial inclusion in Bangladesh. I seek to mentor students, promote innovative thinking, and collaborate with national and international institutions to solve real-world economic challenges. My objective is to integrate empirical research with policy formulation, enhance knowledge dissemination, and support evidence-based decision-making for inclusive and sustainable development in the agricultural and economic sectors.

Description: This study, titled “Gendered Vulnerabilities and Survival: An Analysis of Marital Status, Work Participation, and Morality in Dinajpur,” aims to examine how gender, marital status, and employment conditions influence vulnerability and survival strategies among individuals, particularly women. The study explores the relationship between social status, economic participation, household responsibilities, and access to resources. It investigates how work opportunities, family structures, and societal norms shape people’s livelihood choices and well-being. Primary data will be collected to analyze gender-based challenges, coping mechanisms, and inequalities. The findings will provide insights for developing policies that promote gender equity, social security, and improved livelihood opportunities in Dinajpur.
- Economic Efficiency and Sustainability of Litchi (Litchi chinensis) Production in Selected Areas of Dinajpur District

Description: This study examines the productive efficiency of litchi growers using the Stochastic Frontier Approach (SFA) based on primary data from 164 farmers. The model provides estimates of the effects of several important inputs, including fixed and variable land, labor, and fertilizers, and other farm resources, on litchi output, and?it also decomposes technical inefficiency from random shocks. The results show that litchi production is significantly and positively correlated with land size and human labor, highlighting scale effects and labor intensity in litchi cultivation. The adoption of chemical inputs, such as urea, TSP, and MoP, also has a positive coefficient, though the negative coefficient on DAP may indicate nutrient misuse or imbalance. Although pesticides are primarily used for pest management, their application can significantly increase crop production by reducing pest-related losses. On the other hand, the effects of irrigation cost and cow dung are weak or negative, suggesting the possibility of improving?water and organic input application. The technical efficiency of litchi growers is relatively high, with over 91% on the efficient frontier; yet economic efficiency varies with access to markets, input cost management, and ease of profitability. The paper argues that such output uncertainty is largely due to exogenous shocks rather than inefficiency, thereby underscoring the importance of risk management alongside technology adoption. Results are consistent with the Sustainable Development Goals in reducing global objectives for sustainable agriculture, decent work, responsible use of inputs, and climate resilience. The results are useful for policymakers in formulating measures to enhance litchi productivity and farmers’ income in the country by intervening in land access, labor productivity, input use management, and market linkage systems.
- Exploring the socio-economic contribution of Litchi cultivation to the selected areas of Dinajpur district

Description: Litchi cultivation in Bangladesh, particularly concentrated in regions like Dinajpur, contributes significantly to the agricultural sector and rural economy. This study explores the socio-economic impact of litchi cultivation, focusing on its role in income generation, employment creation, and community development. Litchi, a prized subtropical fruit, faces challenges such as limited market access, post-harvest losses, and inadequate storage facilities. Despite these challenges, litchi remains a profitable venture for small-scale farmers, as evidenced by its high demand and market value. Using primary data collected from 120 respondents in Dinajpur district, this research employs descriptive and econometric analyses to assess the profitability and socio-economic conditions of litchi farmers. Results indicate that litchi cultivation offers substantial economic returns, with a net profit estimated at Tk. 379,747 per acre per season. Moreover, the study identifies key factors influencing litchi farming, including land tenure, access to credit, and participation in cooperatives. The findings underscore the need for strategic interventions to enhance litchi production and marketing. Policy recommendations include investments in infrastructure development, such as modern storage facilities and improved transportation networks, to minimize post-harvest losses and ensure fair market prices. Furthermore, promoting diversification into value-added litchi products and strengthening farmer cooperatives can enhance market stability and profitability. This study contributes valuable insights into the socio-economic dynamics of litchi cultivation in Bangladesh, providing a basis for policy formulation and strategic planning to sustainably enhance the sector's contribution to rural livelihoods and national economic growth.
- Evaluating the effect of agricultural credit facility on the rice production in selected areas of Dinajpur district, Bangladesh

Description: This study examines factors influencing Bangladeshi farmers' acceptance of agricultural financing and the impact of credit on rice output. Through a comprehensive survey involving 255 rice producers and utilising logistic regression and the Cobb-Douglas production function, the study identifies key determinants affecting rice yield among farmers utilising formal and informal credit, as well as those without credit. Factors such as household characteristics, land ownership, inputs (e.g., seeds and irrigation), and proximity to markets significantly influence rice productivity. Additionally, the study underscores the importance of unauthorised lending sources in facilitating higher-than-average rice yields and emphasises critical determinants - like age, education, experience, household size, and landholding - for farmers' access to financing. The result also reveals that credit amount significantly influences rice production, with an average incremental positive effect of 12.60%. For formal credit holders, this effect is estimated at 14.4%, while for informal credit access, it is predicted to be 20.10%. These findings offer insights into enhancing agricultural credit accessibility and emphasise the role of informal credit sources in driving agricultural productivity
- Comparative analysis between wheat and maize cultivation on the basis of profitability and technical efficiency

Description: This study examines the scale and technical efficiency of Boro rice and maize cultivation in northern Bangladesh, focusing on the Dinajpur and Lalmonirhat districts. Utilizing stochastic production frontier analysis, the research assesses the key factors affecting production efficiency and resource utilization among smallholder farmers. The findings indicate that maize producers demonstrate higher technical efficiency compared to Boro rice farmers, with efficiency levels for maize often surpassing 90%. Fertilizer use is crucial in enhancing maize productivity, while labor plays a significant role in the cultivation of both crops. Additionally, younger and more experienced farmers exhibit higher efficiency, highlighting the importance of human capital in agricultural productivity. Despite these improvements, challenges remain, such as limited access to extension services, credit facilities, and quality inputs, which hinder the potential of both maize and Boro rice farmers. The study also identifies inefficiencies among Boro rice farmers, attributed to suboptimal resource utilization and a lack of adoption of productivity-boosting practices. For maize, the complementarity between labor and fertilizer use suggests opportunities for integrated resource management strategies to boost output. The findings align with previous research, emphasizing that efficiency gains can be achieved through targeted interventions, including improved access to timely services, training programs, and financial support. The insights provided are valuable for policymakers, extension agents, and stakeholders working to promote sustainable agricultural practices and improve productivity in Bangladesh's smallholder farming systems.
- Effect of Mobile Money on the Savings and Consumption Behaviour of the Low Income Earners: A Case Study in Dinajpur District

Description: Mobile banking is now extensively acknowledged in Bangladesh. This study tries to explore the ultimate effect of the mobile banking use on the saving behavior in the rural low-income households. For this purpose, this study applies cross sectional data of 200 samples. The data is collected from direct interviews using simple random sampling in the sadar upazila of Dinajpur district. Logistic model and the two stage least square model are applied to identify the factors and effect of mobile banking adoption on the saving behavior. The findings reveal that mobile banking service adopters have higher degree of propensity to save compared to the non-adopters. It also notifies that mobile banking service adopter has 2 times higher propensity to save than non-adopters. Moreover, rural residents have also higher propensity to save compared to the urban. This study suggests the mobile banking services should be properly managed to stable financial inclusion in accordance with income groups, regional and social diversity. This may also help to reduce the differences among the ruralurban and different income groups also by moving towards achieving sustainable goals.
- An Economic study on transformation of boro-rice cultivation to maize cultivation in the Dinajpur district

Description: This study, titled “An Economic Study on Transformation of Boro-Rice Cultivation to Maize Cultivation in Dinajpur District,” aims to analyze the factors influencing farmers’ shift from Boro rice to maize production. It focuses on comparing production costs, profitability, resource use efficiency, and economic returns of both crops. The study will examine farmers’ perceptions, challenges, and opportunities related to maize cultivation through primary data collection and economic analysis. It will assess the role of irrigation requirements, input costs, market demand, and climate factors in crop transformation. The findings will support sustainable crop diversification and improve farmers’ economic benefits.
