PROJECTS

  1. Comparisons of KAP levels towards Type-2 Diabetes in different socio-economic groups of Dinajpur District - A comparative study of Knowledge, Attitude and Practice.

    Funded by: IRT, HSTU

    Position: Project Investigator (PI)

Description: This project assessed and compared knowledge, attitude, and practice (KAP) regarding Type-2 Diabetes among 426 respondents from different socio-economic groups in Dinajpur District, Bangladesh. A cross-sectional study was conducted using a structured questionnaire, and data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, chi-square tests, and multinomial logistic regression. The study found that 21.8% had high knowledge, 60.6% had a high attitude score, 40.6% demonstrated good diabetes-related practices, and 26.3% had an overall high KAP level. Education, occupation, household educational status, diabetic association membership, and family history of diabetes were significantly associated with KAP outcomes. The findings highlight socio-economic disparities in diabetes-related KAP and emphasize the importance of targeted health education and community-based interventions for disadvantaged populations.

  2. Utilization of Maternal health care among Santal mother of Dinajpur: A case study.

    Funded by: IRT, HSTU

    Position: Project Investigator (PI)

Description: This project examined the knowledge, awareness, and utilization of maternal healthcare services among Santal women in Dinajpur District, Bangladesh. A total of 209 Santal women with at least one child under five years of age were selected from different areas of Dinajpur using convenience sampling. The study assessed maternal health indicators including age at marriage, age at first birth, pregnancy outcomes, healthcare awareness, place of delivery, and type of delivery. Descriptive, bivariate, and binary logistic regression analyses were conducted to identify factors associated with Caesarean delivery. The findings provide important evidence on maternal healthcare practices among Santal women and can support the development of culturally appropriate maternal health awareness and service-delivery programs.
